A local salvage yard has a C-135 IH gas engine out of a combine. It is a complete engine that runs well. He is asking $800.00 for the engine. Has anyone purchased engines from salvage yards? Does that seem to be a reasonable price for that engine? Thanks in advance for your comments

I was told the engine was a c-135. How can you tell if it is an SC or a 153?

The 135 has it cast on block as well. If it is a super C engine it will have c-123 on it.

153 is casted in the block of the 2 engines I have. I am not sure about the 135 blocks.

It looks like a good block for a SC (C-123) is $400 in central MN. Parts and machine work to rebuild it run between $900 and $1700.

I bought a good C-153 for $150 and a running SC with a 153 for $500.

If it is a real good one you can't rebuild one for any less. Are you sure it is a 135 or a 153.
