I agree with Bob . If you are off a few degrees it doesn't matter. The other way ,if you are off it will affect the setting.

straight from an IH machanic.
TDC compression do 1,2,3,and 5
One turn of the pulley to TDC mark and do 8,7,6, and 4.

if your 180 degree, is one turn with the pully to the TDC mark again, then you are right.

Doc...

Didn't believe me about the funny Cub Manual Server link behavior huh?

I've even emailed YT about it; with no resolution.

"Cut and paste" is the only method that works.

Simplest way is to simply work thru the firing order. Start with the #1 cylinder when it's at TDC (compression) and adjust both #1 valves. Now roll the engine 180 deg (4 cyl) or 120 deg (6 cyl) and adjust both valves for the next cylinder in the firing order. Keep repeating for two full crank revolutions and the valves for all cylinders will have been set.

----

For a 4 cyl IHC engine (1-3-4-2 firing order):

- Start at #1 TDC compression and adjust both #1 valves.
- Roll the crank 180 deg and adjust both valves on #3 cyl
- Roll another 180 deg and adjust both valves on #4 cyl
- Finally roll another 180 deg and adjust both valves on #2 cyl.
