Is there an easy way to see the 5/16 pin that connects the clutch and trans input?? I think that may solve my drive problem. (Bill Gerr, if you read this...Yes, I would like your help!!)
Thanks Tim from IL.

Tim If you give me your e-mail. I will try to send you a page out of my manual. If you pull off the clutch break I think you will be able to see the pin. Jack up one of the rear tires put the trans in gear and roll that tire. If the clutch unit. does not turn. the pin is out/broke or the input shaft is broke. If I can help more let me know. Bill

There are a set of wooden-ended round pucks that push against the clutch to stop the shaft when you push the pedal down to shift into gear. You will have to pull the rear deck fender piece off to get a good look. This is the weakest link in that tractor. Red

It has been a while that I worked on mine so I could be wrong but I am pretty sure the pin or bolt is between the front of the transmission and the other side of that pressure plate (through the pressure plate). It sounds like that is your problem but it may not be an easy fix. If you have the new updated rear flywheel it takes a bolt and tightening the bolt will bring the 2 halfs tight around the shaft but if you have the old style that isn't made to tighten, the shaft turning inside could have made the fit loose. A bolt will fix it for a little while but it will need to be replaced with the new style and hopefully the shaft isn't worn too much or that will need replacing too.

BTW, I should mention that the rear pressure plate assembly turns with the engine,as it should, but won't transfer power to spline and clutch shaft inside the transmission case.
