I ran into an 1967 806 last november but this tractor is set up just like a 1206 (manafold, hood, verticle precleaner, and injection pump.It had been used on a 15 foot brush hog from orig owner but the turbo had went out on the orig owner but while this guy was putting a new turbo on it the owner had passed away and his wife asked if he wanted to just go ahead and buy the tractor so he got it and he says he put a larger turbo on it than what it was. so he had put a schwitzer 3LD turbo on it witch was used on 12/1456 tractors but my 806 still has the DT 361 engine. If it would be a 1206 turbo it would been a TO4 Garrett. I read that ther was a few tractors called factory custom tractors built in 1967. Could this person ordered this tractor from factory? And does anyone know of this being done with turbos or how much horse power could this tracor be pushing with the pump turned up 10% also and any help would be gladly appriciated it would be really nice to no whats been done to this tractor. Thank you.

Just had a turboed 806 in my shop for repairs. It was in for cluth, TA and hydraulic problems so I didn't even look at what kind of turbo it had on it. I will say this the owner told be it was a dealer installed M&W kit that he had put on it a few years after he bought the tractor new in '66. The M&W kit looks factory as all the pieces are painted Farmall red. This tractor on the dyno turned about 105hp.

First off, unless you put it in there, your tractor does NOT have the DT-361. The 806 was ALWAYS normally aspirated (no turbo) and had the D-361 engine. It lacks one main bearing, has a smaller intercooler, and lacks piston cooling jets needed for turbo operation. That being said, there is NO WAY your tractor had a turbo leaving the factory unless it was a 1206.

The custom tractors were a cheaper version of the tractor that were usually exported, but some stayed in the US. They had fewer hydraulic valves, less fuel capacity, and fewer headlights. Obviously, they did not get a turbo, as they were meant to be stripped down tractors at a bargain price.

How much power is it making? Hard to say. Stock 806's have ~85 horsepower. Ours with a cranked up pump and normally aspirated makes 105 horsepower. Yours with the turbo it is probably making in the range of 110 to 150. Be very careful with this power! The 1206 had a beefed up rear end. With this much horsepower in that 806 chassis, one max pull could thrash the rear end. That rear end was built strong and had a very good allowance for overload, but I think that you are probably at or close to its limit. I personally wouldn't exceed 110 hp myself, but I know a few that are well over that and don't have problems. The motor probably won't have a problem with it if it is properly maintained.

Chad , all 806's are of the 7 main bearing and on the later blocks even had the piston jets in them . as for power settings that can vary depending on just who did the screw twisten . My 806 Non turbo is setting at 110-112 at pto and the neighbor 806 that is turboed is setting at 135 the one that my uncle and my old boss had that were the firt two 806's around here that got hair dryers put on darn near the day after they hit the farm were both setting at 165 .

You can insist it is factory all you want, but it isn't. The guy is handing you a line of BS.

It is VERY easy to take factory 1206 parts and add them to an 806 to make it LOOK factory. The parts are all easily interchangeable because the tractors are essentially the same. The major differences are inside the engine and transmission. All the turbo stuff bolts on the OUTSIDE of the engine.
