I have a friend that has a 560 Farmall gas. He wants to set it up for a stock puller and wants me to rebuild the engine. Truthfully I know very little about Farmall engines. My parts sources lists Step head and Fire crater pistons for this engine. It currently has the Step head pistons. Are they interchangable? If so which one produces the most compression or which one should i use Thanks in Advance.. Weldin man.

Well there is a lot that can be done and all it takes is the green folding stuff . Now does he just want to play sometimes and still use it for farming ? or flat out pullen .

Before you discard the sleeves and pistons, think of this old guy that needs a couple.

Saving old piston and sleeves shouldn't be any problem, but I still haven't gotten an answer to my first question. Will the step head and fire crater pistons interchange and what is the advantages or disadvantages of either? I'd really like to know before I disassemble.

Engine is 263 Ci. completely stock. has been rebuilt at least once I assume, crank has been turned. Our antique tractor club doesn't allow for much modification,Engine is supposed to be stock. No major modifications such a stroking. Etc. Can get by with electronic ign. -pulling carb and pulling cam., Minor RPM Change. He will Pull 4 MPH. Thanks again.

you can bore the the 263 ci engine to a 301 ci and can still be calles a stock block or take the sleevs out of it and make it a 282ci but thats if you are goinh to be just pulling only but a 263ci will do great in antique. trust me u will have plenty of power for just that type of pulling. but on thing i dont know what the clubs rules are but some people will gripe because hear 1959 or older for antique but ares is 1961 ther still the same but usally something will be said is thats the cause where you live what year is it?
