Hey Mike,

Just something to think about before you run out and buy a used tractor and try to dodge or second guess any future problems.

If I had it to do over again I really, really think I'd watch for one of those real sharp outfits that someone else has already been completely thru. And, I mean completely, totally thru.

Every once in awhile you will trip across an old tractor that someone has spent way too much money on and he just wants to recoup some of his losses. He's already faced the loud music and just wants out from under the beast.

Let's face it. An old 100 horse tractor is gonna need work and to put it right it's gonna take a pile of money.

Heck, why not just figure on spending the money up front instead of sweating bullets and waiting for the shoe to drop? Let someone else go thru all the anguish.

Dunno, just thinking out loud, but I've seen some really nice outfits in the $12K to $17K range and they'd probably easily run another 20 or 30 years. Fairly cheap horsepower by today's standards.

Just trying to help ya decide,

Allan

Hey Allan,

Thanks for the as usual, great advice. I"m not in any big hurry to buy another tractor. Up to now, I"ve been doing a lot of tire kickin" which is why I"ve been so full of tractor questions lately. I appreciate all of the advice from you and the others who know these tractors way better than I.

Since I"m not in a hurry, I"ll certainly keep my eye out for a "cream puff".

Michael: Give this some thought, I believe there is a guy about my age trying to sell you a tractor. Go to the archives, you'll find every nickel he spent on it.
