Going to take a look at a IH 350 Utility that"s for sale down the road. It has a front snow plow and rear chains. Can"t tell just yet if its gas or deisel.

Are there any common flaws or special features that I should make a point to look for on this tractor?

I heard the farmall 350 is a good haying tractor. Is this also true of the 350 Utility? If so, anyone recommend a bailer? Thanks in advance. Clip

Just a few more things that are common problems on the 350U.

Take a good look at the front end and where it connects under the engine. The frame or mount can be broken especially on a unit with a front loader. Also make sure the PTO operates well under load. Typically the tachometer does not work and parts are rare and expensive.

steering and hydraulics and resale value are the big weakness other wise these tractors are tough customers

Check the steering. Those tractors are known for sloppy steering boxes. Parts are few and expensive. Most that suffer from this have had a loader on them. Al in all they are vey tough and durable machines. Very good parts availibality for everything except the steering box and if it has a deisel engine. Mike

i dont know of any specific weaknesses. General used tractor inspection applies here. Big ticket items, are clutch, tranny, engine, hydraulics, and so on. Also make sure she charges and so on.

Not sure if your intent with this post is to have knowledge of specific problems with this tractor, or with general inspection of a used tractor.

As for the farmal simalarities, I havent a clue...

Oh, if its got a TA, dont forget to check that out too.

My intent was to see if there was anything specific for this tractor. There was a good list two days back or so for used tractors in general. Thanks for your response.
