have just acquired what i was told was a 49 "C" on propane.(tag on seat frame #52702 no letter "C"can be seen) It does not run correctly.has one line {not original}from vaporvalve to regulator. No line on liquidvalve.Hose from regulator to carb with a 3"long tube inserted into the bottom of the carb.I need to know the basics of propane system.it will fire but not run on its on tank.it Will idle (butnotrevup) off a nurse tank so ignition is correct.this does not look like factory fuel system.

It did not come from the factory propane. Any C or SC is a conversion. I bought a SC parts tractor that had a propane system, but it was not running. I do have a propane moline and a propane forklift. A true propane system has a vacum line connected to the regulator that will increase the amount of propane fed to the carb as the manifold vacum increases. The system on the SC was not set up this way. See if you can find the company that made the regulator and get some info from them.

The serial number makes it an early 1950. The casting dates on the major components would confirm this. I don't believe there were any C's that were propane from the factory.
