For example, I just searched for Farmall Super C and got 1880 results. Most ads are for something totally unrelated - not even Farmall. Classifieds are worthless for me anymore.

One time I saw a how to search button. The search does work really well when you know how to operate the archaic(sp) system. I has something to do with brackets and quotes. Very difficult!

There are also issues with the spam filters. If you reply to a picture or classified add and you use a free email service like hotmail, most of the time the filter blocks it and will not foward your question to the seller. This works both ways if you place an add, you do not receive email from people with free email services. Its very irratating and I know YT tech knows about it but they can't seem to do anything about it.

I deal occasionally in commercial and rural property, and the listings in our local paper have dropped by about sixty to seventy-five percent over the last twenty years.

Instead of the internet being a place where people can list and peruse lists and contact each other as individuals, the search engines instead point toward real estate corporate web sites dangling bait online but requiring contact with a commissioned salesperson to make an offer.

The final result; the web makes it MORE difficult to buy and sell real estate without putting a third party's child through college, not LESS difficult! So much for the repeated assurances of all those futurists, visionaries and "high-tech" "pioneers"...

A. Bohemian: That is just real estate sales folk protecting their turf. The internet should have made real estate sales personell obsolete. They still think it their god given right to drive you around the countryside showing you real estate that doesn't meet the criteria you gave them.

i think the search on this site is horrible. wonder when kim will change the site software, if ever. When u search for farmall super c, the search engine most likely omits "c", and returns all results with farmall or super. Try using quotes in the search, then it will search for the exact phrase, or put a + sign in front of each word so the result has to contain all of the words. That is how most newer search engines work, but knowing the forum, thats outdated as well and wont help at all. =(

I wish the site could be run on 2 dif softwares, this old crap for the stubborn people, and something like vulletin for the people who encourage change, and use the same database files for messages. I'm sure this would cause alot of issues and be a total pain in the butt. Maybe in 5 or 10 years they will force users to deal with an upgrade. Everybody else does it, why not YT? =\

It has to do with their search engine. I haven't tried it on ytmag lately but some places you have to enter it with quotes around it like "super c". This isn't always fool proof. That is why the single word search field works a lot better.

Leon: If you are talking about the photo ads, here is the best way I have found to make it work:
Go to photo ads; click on tractors; type in farmall (not farmall C); hit the "go" button.
You will get all farmalls - not just C's - but that is the best way to get the fool thing to work..... mike

Seems to work the same way in the regular classified ads - i.e., just type farmall, not farmall super c. mike
