My great uncle has a 400 he bought when he got out of the service and it has had extremely good care all of its life. As a result it still has relatively good original paint. I was curious how much do you think that would add to the tractor's value. Not that were ever going to sell it. By the way, we also have an 806 with original paint that looks brand new.

Personally, I would up the value of a tractor with nice, original paint by about 10% to 20% compared to one with a non-original base/clear type paint.

Just my opinion on the matter...

There is not a better way to take care of tractors and equipment then in a shed every night and taken care of on a regular basis. Your post is a great testimonial for taking care of your equipment, Hal.

Your question is a good one, but so subjective, it would be impossible to answer. What looks like good original paint to one person, looks quite worn to the next person. This guy wants original paint, (albeit a little faded); That guy wants nothing less than a new automotive quailty job with base coat/clear coat. What matters in terms of value is the overall appearance and condition of the tractor. mike
