The wiring got fried on my 300u last weekend and I have replaced it along with a new light switch and amp meter. (I had to hook up the new amp meter backwards from the old one for it to work right, are some backwards from others?). Anyhow, tractor starts, runs but won't stop with the ignition switch. The system is a 12 volt alternator conversion. I tried to rewire everything the say it was.
Help, what else did I fry or what do I have hooked up wrong?

You need a diode or a resistor or an "idiot light" in the lead to the alternator's #1 "switched excite" circuit.

An example of the diode method is shown.

Hey, Hey, Hey. I just went out to the garbage and stripped the shrink wrap and tape off the old wiring and found a DIODE up near the ignition. Thanks for the help that kept me going.

Would there of been a diode hidden in the old wiring or did one get fried in the alternator?
