Was looking through farmall parts on ebay, found a new in box M&W governor on ebay. Bid is at 370.00. From what I have seen and the info in my catalog. The governor for sale on ebay is has stock IH weights and tube with M&W linkage parts. Box looks original though. Anyone seen this item. OR is this a M&W governor that was made in later production?

Looks real to me,thats one design they sold. Think it was sold earlier than 4 weight, but not sure about that. Some of the parts are a lot like the early thompson power governor, don't know if the same supplier was involved. Notice the weight pins are not held in the same as stock and the helm joint linkage. M&W air cleaner on there that is from Fletcher Ohio. Governor is another state.

I seen that he claims it had been stored for a long time wraped in old news paper. Do you think someone installed part of the M&W and put old parts from tractor back in box I assume it was not wrapped in news paper from M&W.

All parts in picture are aftermarket.Notice the fork has different bearings to pivot than stock bearings. notice the pivot shaft is threaded on one end, stock has no threads. I would say rest of small parts are there in packages. Throttle tube is sharper edged at step down than stock and arm on shaft probably has threaded hole for helm joint mounting. The ones I have worked on like that have TG before numbers on weights and fork the same as what I have always took for Thompson Governors. Also found them with plain tube, tube with metal tag with M&W and tube with M&W in raised area. Have M&W page from 1964 that shows the two weight governor in a open box and paper packing under parts that could be newspaper.

That is real possable. And I find where they installed part of the parts and did it when the tractor was quite new and it is real hard to tell what you have. Newspaper was real common packing years ago too so who knows?
