The H has a thumb screw type bolt that screws into the side of the block to drain it. Everyone I have ever seen has been corroded and deteriorated so that they are not usable. Does anyone have any idea where to get the replacement plug? I guess I could make one out of a bolt, but the threads seem to be tapered in the hole. I think I would like a brass one.

I would use plumbers dope on them threads. That durn tape comes off in shreds, and guess were it goes. In places it should not be. Just my opinion of tape.

If you have the oringal plug the engine crank for turning the engine (hand starting) would fit on that plug like a wrench to remove that plug. Might have to use a lot of pent. oi. and/or some heat to remove it. I also believe it is pipe thread, go back to I.H. for new plug, and use teflon tape on new one. Armand

I think you need pipe thread plug to work. Ithink that should work. Use teflon on the threads for a tight seal.
