I'm looking at a Super A, but it will not idle. The owner installed a new carburetor and it still will not idle; it runs almost wide open.

Could it be in the governor??

Buy it, bring it home, and then fix it. You will probably attain a better price in that order, just words of advice and past experience.

THe linkage is open to binding on this model in two places. One is the link from the lever at the controls, to the governor. It needs to pull the governor control lever all the way when open, and all the way the other way when closed (forward).

The other link is likely to be an issue. It is a rod link from the governor output arm (in front of the carb, abd behind the Gen) It is to be just long enough to hold the throttle wide open when the tractor is shut off, and the operator control lever (above) is all the way open. It should touch nothing but the two connections. JimN

It could be governor or maybe the linkage is binding. That is common sometimes after R&R of carb. The proper adjusting pocedures are in the IT manual available on this site to the left. Or from local TSC stores.
