ive got a 706 with 282 diesel engine. it has the die cast type oil filter base. i would like to convert to a spin on oil filter. i think ih made a kit for this. does anyone know if its still available, and what it consists of. if my base comes off and the new one goes on, does it have a bypass in it in case of the filter plugging?thanks
nate

Hello,Nate. I just put one on my 706.I don't know if IH still makes them or not,I found mine in the junk yard.It came off a 656.They will fit a lot of different tractors. It is a simple cupped base that has a threaded nipple the screws onto the base and sticks thru with filter threads. It is a nice little deal.It does not have a by pass.Your base stays on the tractor and you will just use the oring that came with the old style filter between the base and the housing on the tractor.Just tighten down the cupped base and screw your filter on.I used a NAPA filter on mine.Hope this helps.
