found a super m for sale real plain, still 6-volt, 13.6 tires ok, hard to read serial number but the best i could see was that it looked like it had a SM 119855, was really hard to read almost like it was scatched off, how else could you tell? ran good and 4th gear seemed a little faster still very hard to tell, just hope it isnt a SM decal on it thanks for any replies

Look at the brakes. Disk brakes held on by six bolts indicates a really really late M or a Super M. Drum brakes means it's an M.

Look closer at the tag. While the Super M prefix is SM, serials were either 501-52627, or 500001-512541 depending on where it was made. The right side of the engine block should have C264 cast into it, if it has a Super M engine. The C248 in the M was not cast into the block. All major cast parts will have a casting code in the form of month*day*year, 9*8*X (Sept 8,1952), Y, or Z. X is 1952; Y, 1953; Z 1954. Both regular M's and Super M's were built in 1952.
