Is anyone using liquid ballast along with the regular rear wheel weights?

If you load your tires your tractor will be to heavy to pull in those lighter classes and certainly wont have enough power to pull in the 5000 and up classes. Fluid in tires will also cause your rims to rust out. Unless you are farming with tractor and need it I would not put it in my good rims. I have drained all fluid from all my tractors and just use weights.

My 46 H comes in at 3950lbs and that is with no weights cast or liquid. it does still have the belly pump and belt pully, and PTO. Im not sure what class your looking to pull in but that the case in 4000 with the H. In 4500lbs my father runs a set of rear weeights and one set of fronts. that gets him to 4500lbs on that. Also his Super H is striped of the hydro. pump and belt pully. If you looking at just doing some fun pulls in 4500lbs then I would put on a set or two depends on the weight of operator and go have some fun. If you have a 4000lbs class I would pull that tho, cause a stock H will pull much better in that class. You will not have to compete against Oliver 88's Farmall M's, and stuff of that nature.

As others have said 12.4's are the way to go. I pull a stock and I mean stock 46 H and it powers out most of the time. We pull short chain too soo you need more power to pull that anyway. Howver out of generaly 12 tractors in 4000lbs class I end up 5th or 6th most of the time Not to bad for a 28hp tractor. However my Dad pulls his Super H in 4500lbs he has 13.6's on his and can spin them at quater throttle but also he has the low low first. If it was up to me tho 12.4's or even a nice pair of 11.2's should work pretty good and not rob you of too much power.

I have 12.4-38 on my 42 H which has been rebuilt with step-head pistons and the overbore. I have two sets of cast weights mounted (300lbs each side) It will not spin out in first gear in the dirt or on gravel, it will power down and kill the engine.

Depending on how much power your H has, I think the 12.4 will take most of it.

With a stock H smaller is better. I would go with 12.4 38. It has been my experiance with H is they dont quite have enough power to start with for most pulling applications. No 1 mistake most folks make on H is overloading with to big a tires. The Ms are a lot better suited for pulling. I have seen bunches of Hs choke and die hooked to a sled.
