I just posted a picture in the Tractor Photo Gallery of this Shop Mule I just got, and would appreciate any information anyone may have on these tractors. Should this tractor have fenders?

MIKE CA, if you have ever been to Yuma, you would reliaze that when you cross the colo. river from Bard, Cal. into Yuma, that you have changed states that you are in! Only a bridge seperates the 2 and you may as well call Yuma Cal.

Well, I found one. Of course I can't see the grill with the push guard on it, but you can see the 'I' beams down the side. And look at the distinct metal bead in the sheet metal on the grill and hood. I cut this out from the full pic. I have a link to the full sized whole pic at the bottom.

Hey, thanks guys for all the comments and info - keep the info coming, as I would like to learn all I can about it. I bought it at an auction in Yuma, Az. I came up with 1942 as a year using the engine serial number (Farmall A engine). Hebard serial number is AL 960. Don't know if you can see in the picture, but the top decal is "International", lower decal is "U S Navy", and the decal at the front of the hood is "C". What does this "C" mean? Mike CA, would appreciate if you could come across any vintage pictures.

about the 'C' on the side... The grill, hood and engine are all Farmall C. The gas tank looks shorter and stubbed off. Can't really see the diff case, but I would guess it's the same.

(Don't mind the 12v conversion on the pic above. Imagine that 6v Gen on there. Compare the carb and air cleaner placement. Those are dead giveaways, as well as the grill)

I saw some pics from that auction, but didn't see that. I have no idea what 'Hebard' is. Do you mind explaining?

How much did you get it for?

A couple more questions: Where did you find it? That looks like is could be California. Although just because it has sun and sand, it could be anywhere in the west, I suppose. So where did you get it? How much did you get it for? Is it in good running condition?

This is so cool! I'm in the U.S. Navy, and I have a Farmall! I had no idea there was a tractor that combined the best of both worlds! Man, I wish I had found it! If I had to guess based on what Haas said, I would say that is a tow tractor. However, I've never seen a picture of one. Are you sure on the year? I will start poking around for vintage pictures to see if I can find one on the flight deck.

Forgot to say, probably less than 2000 built total and that includes all of them. The Navy ones are kind of rare. There is a registry kept by a fellow in New York. If you E mail me, I will send you his Email. I do not like to post Emails on the forum, as that is an invite to spam.

Wonder what is the serial number. That is a Navy shop mule. They were used by the Navy on Aircraft carriers. I have some pictures I can send. Will have to be later, as I am not at my regular computer right now. You can get a manual from OEM for it. won't match exactly, but it will work. The one you have has the smaller tires on it. Many of them had farm tires, the same as on the Farmall A. Where did you find this and did you get a good buy on it??
