Hey guys I need your help again. Are all the Transsmission driven pto's the same for the old IH's? I have a chance to get a unit off a 1946 H and want to know if it will fit my 1956 300 utility. Thanks

D Slater is exactly right after I thought about it the bolt pattern on the 300 is completely different than that of a H. You would need a unit off another 350/300/400/450 or even a Super MTA. I did see a trans drive pto for those on ebay 2 or 3 weeks ago dont know what it brought. I have a 450 that has TA ,and trans drive PTO.

If your 300 is made for countershaft PTO the 46 H won't work. Everything is the same except the PTO housings and shift lever. H PTO housing won't fit 300 transmission housing.

Jim is right there are different shafts used. If you look at serial tag to see what letters are stamped on it you can tell which shaft it has. If your 300 had IPTO originally it will not take the H unit. If it had transmission driven it may work, but I am not sure there could be difference between rowcrop and utility. If your tag has a R on it the trans drive pto should work.

I believe (but could be corrected) that the 300 would have to be a nonIPTO (Trans Driven) PTO option tractor to do it without a bunch of parts. The countershaft I think is different in the front to take power from the constant mesh gear. JimN
