856 Hydraulic Seat

I bought an 856 Diesel a few months ago. Starts well, a friend tried it out on a 13 inch auger with good performance, no overheating. All seemed fine until the seat decided to rise to the top of its stroke. I suspect that there's something preventing the "up" valve piston from returning to centered position or a failed inlet ball check valve.

New valves seem to be unobtainium, and expensive anyway.

Comments anyone?

If it's the same as an 806 it's no big deal just tear it apart and clean it up, seems like it took common 0 rings. Lack of use makes everything in the valve gummy.

Don't know, does it have the nitrogen filled accumulator? Your easiest way out may be to replace the whole assembly with an air ride set-up. Not cheap, but repair parts for yours probably are not cheap either. Send me an e-mail.

That"s always an option if I can"t fix it.

Might be easier.

We had a hydraulic seat in our 1586. It leaked all over the cab floor and we also couldn't get the parts to fix it either, so we replaced it with a spring seat. Its a more comfortable seat anyway. I don't recall the price however, it was many years ago.
