I have been looking at a 53 Super M for about 2 1/2 months and finally got the guy to give me a price of $500 but seems about 1 to 2 hundred to high to me.

The tractor has been sitting outside for 10 to 15 years, exhaust has been covered but will not turn over using the fan. Tires are shot, rims good, grill and hood good, has a dent in gas tank where something has fallen on it but inside of tank looks rust free, steering wheel is mashed, light bar is bent and steering post is broken off at base. It has a set of wheel weights on it and drawbar is in good shape. It does not have live power or power steering. What would it be worth as salvage

I would like input from people on this board what would be a fair price to pay for this tractor.
Thanks Dave

Sounds to me like it had been flipped and then parked. I would try to get it for lower price.

If it was close to me it would be gone when you went back.

If you are not willing to pay the 500 someone else will take it thats a good price as it would scrap out for parts for much more.

i agree with rusty, price seems fair. tractor has good tin, its all there, needs some tlc. figure 800 for new tires, 1000.00 at the engine, gaskets and seals here and there, figure maybe another 500 or so for some bling bling to spruce her up, and you got a decent tractor for under 3500.00 that will last you 50 years if you take care of it.

This is just one person's opinion; others may feel differently. It isn't worth $500 with the physical damage you describe, but that is probably where the market is today for that particular stage 1 super M. I've noticed prices climbing in the last year. Why? Either growing interest, or the salvage parts guys have gotten more aggressive with what they will pay to tear one down into a pile of parts for salvage.... mike

Actually, that $500 figure is not too far off. You said the drawbar is good. A new drawbar will cost a little over $100, and the wheel weights that are already there would be worth around $70 to $80.
