On most Carb Rebuilds I do, I spay carb cleaner and a little compressed air around. It usually dislodges any debree and with a rebuild kit they seem to work just like new

I've never seen an H carb without a venturi.

I tear them down and put the parts in a sonic cleaner with some solvent in it. After about an hour I examine the parts and put it back together.

If the carb is from a running tractor it's fairly easy. If the carb is from a fencerow derelict, some extreme measures are required and should be left to the hands of an experienced rebuilder. If the carb is all rusted up, you will damage or ruin the venturi if you don't know what you are doing, and that venturi will set you back about $50 IF you can find one.

Take carb apart and spray out with carb cleaner.

Well for starters it is hard to damage the carb. just be careful of the venturi is stuck just be careful when taking it out. Take the carb apart and soak it in carb cleaner. Take and make sure all the jets are clean and you can see through them. take and use air pressure and blow out the passage ways in the carb. IF you buy a carb kit follow the directions and re-set the float to the correct level. Its prety straigt forward so just take to your time.
