Who gave the name, "Stage One" & "Stage Two" ?

Is this a International thing or did someone make it up ?

A guy like Hugh, I said like, made it all up. It refers to the stages of Farmallitis. It begins with the lower number, you have a desire to purchase a piece of "red iron". The condition may not be the desire for a tractor at first. Somewhere you spot a piece of "red iron", machinery, even literature can bring on this condition. You see a good deal and go for it. From there, Famallitis can progress - stage two, etc. etc. There is no known cure. Even an empty money clip/checkbook/another"s checkbook will not stop the progression of this disease. No storage, NO PROBLEM, back yard, neighbors unused back yard, fence line, row of trees, front yard...nothing seems to stop it. If you have read others post here, you may recall some use the dining/kitchen table. Coffee and good home-made or bakery "goodies" make the "suffering more manageable" for this author. Stage.....

Al: Not sure I want to accept the responsibility for all of that, bear in mind I don't have it all figured out yet. When I have time to study your text in detail, I'll respond.

It's an IH thing. Used in internal documentation.

Guy: I've been thinking what your saying is quite accurate. I can remember going to IH dealer with my dad, I was with him when he bought his 51 H with belly pump and subsequent visits. There was no mention to a customer about stage I, II, etc. Back in those days, a dealer talked to customers in terms of belly pump or live pump. That is all the farmer customer was concerned about. Also in my area, when are you going to have IPTO like Cockshutt or Oliver.

I can see where it may have been confuseing to a farmer to hear Stage One or Two.

They would be wondering what Stage 4 and 5 might bring and put off their purchase to wait and see ?

Sammy: I can think of a couple of times I wish I had waited, most notable was the 63 Farmall 560. Within a year of buying it I decided I wanted 90 hp. I think an 806 would have been a better buy.
