Hi everyone, I seem to be missing something here, I can adjust the idle screw all the way out and cannot seems to get the motor down below 1030 rpm. I checked for vacuum leaks, none. I checked to see if the throttle shaft was out of the groove on the carb, it wasn't. I pulled the governor side plate off and backed the low speed screw out to the point it wasn't touching and nothing seems to let the motor drop down to a decent idle. Any ideas???
Thanks,
Charles

Charles, did this happen after you swapped the governor spring? if the spring is too short, it wont idle down, and no adjustment will help it. If thats the case,, get a spring, thats about 1/4 inch longer than the one you got. Its eitherthat, or you did not get the tangs in the linkage hooked up right where the carb bolts to the governor housing. Chad

Charles, I had the same exact problem on my M when I first got it. I just opened up the governor and adjusted the two adjustment screws, one is the idle stop screw (top one) and the speed adjusting screw (bottom one). I used the detailed directions in the service manual for my adjustments. Been running correctly ever since. There is another adjustment that can be done inside the slanted cover at the front of the carb throttle shaft which might be your problem. There are some other adjustments noted if for some reason you can't get it adjusted with those adjustments. If you don't have a manual maybe someone will jump in here with their solutions. Good luck, Hal.

Thanks for replys guys, I do have a service manual, just didn"t seem to help. Now it could be the spring since I went down to tractor supply and bought one around the same length.
Thanks again,
Charles
