I came across a IH combine engine for scrap price. I can not make out what vintage, type of combine it came from. I would also like to know if parts are interchangable with a tractor model. I did not have my glasses along so my less than motivated son got the numbers off the engine.

IH engine 1769103065

1.60s.040

1.909.9ss

1.724.588

1.617,390

Ents

Thanks everyone in advance, I'm asuming I can not find the forest because of to many trees in the way. NE IA Dave

Sounds like a continental from a 64 combine maybe.

The engine does have a clutch,4 cylinder flat head, and was in a building that was owned by a friend killed in a auto accident. Thus I am just getting a general idea for now, and if I can convince my less concerned son to take a picture or two I certianly will, however he has limited time, and only comes down on weekends at a non formatted schedule.

The reason for my concern is a auction comming up soon has another parts engine that I can buy prior to the sale. Has been a little to cold, and I'm a little to busy to get with the details as I should have.
Thanks again, and will post as soon as possible.

They use over 16 different IH engines in their combines and one model used a Wisconsin engine.
I will give you the 6 volt engines used. Hal

If it an overhead valve it would be an I-H If the sparkplugs are on top this would be a flathead and could be a CUB or CONTINETAL but if its a CONT there should be an ID plate saying such. Sheet metal varied resembling in some cases that of an A or B. Now you didnt say if the engine came from a pull combine or self propelled as the pulls had different engine than self propelled. It mite also be one from a baler. Does it have a clutch?
