I recently acquired a Farmall A tractor with a model # of FAA., serial # 254632. I am wanting to restore it but need the year it was built and whether it is a 6 or 12 volt system. It has a 4 cyl. gas engine.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Gary P. Davis

Count the cells in the battery. If its 3 you have 6 volts; if it has 6 cells its a 12 volt battery. Hal
That's assuming it has a battery.

In the how to fish category, look left under serial numbers. Theunit was 6v Pos ground when new. but could be anything now. The starter will be 6v yet (likely) and the easiest way is to look at light bulbs (if they are wired) an alternator instead of generator is surely 12v neg ground. JimN

You have a 1948 SA #s started with 250082 ended with 268195 6vpos gnd 1st SA in 47 STARTED WITH #250001 Yours should have a hy system with rockshafts. Pump is located below the mag with lines running to the rockshaft below the gastank. It is possible yours wouldnot have the hy system but a plate over the housing where the pump could mount.
