I am restoring my 1953 Super A. What is the correct color for the rims. I have heard grey and silver. Which is correct? Thanks for your help.

The silver paint from I-H with top coat of clear cote looks great.

FarmerJ: I would say neither gray or silver, closer to silver but not a bright silver. I would call it a galvinized look.

Bear in mind the rim color was never exact. I've owned 16 new or near new Farmalls in my life time. I don't think any of the tractors had rims the exact shade of silver of the others. Those tractors spanned 35 years, thus all were not new at same time, fading would be a factor.

I can remember new tractor on the dealer lot in the 50s, 60s, etc. I think I'd be safe in calling it about 5 different shades of silver.

Just don't go gray, or any shade of gray. Keep it silver, a bit on the flat side.

Get the rustoleum hammered aluminum (?sp) at lowes of homers depot. I think it looks real good has the galvanized look.
