The other question is which farmall hood emblem, aluminum or tin? and my throtle has the squared notches, is that what you call the saw tooth? Actually it had the friction on it and i changed it to the notched one. I just like the looks of it better . It was a used one i aquired.

Now another question just came to mind.I changed my steering post as the one on it was a galvanized pipe. There is a square plate bolted under the belly pump rod hanger . It has 4 holes in in, is this an add one or did it come that way and what would of been in the 4 holes?

Also on the belly pump rod holder there are 2 holes close to the steering post. What was in them? Right now i have a toggle switch for an ignition switch in one and another toggle for the light switch in the other.

I know that was more than 2 qusetions but i had to make up for forgetting one in the other post.

That's a square notch throttle. Many farmers switched over because the sawtooth throttle wore out quickly. Same reason they switched to the friction throttle.

The four-hole plate is for the belt pulley control.

There were many different configurations for the controls on an H.

There is good drawing of H operating controls in Case IH Online Parts Catalog. Some tractors will not be exactly like illustration though.

We would (probably need to know the year to help with the first question)
The saw tooth throttle has teeth in the round lid like cover that are shaped like the teeth on an 8 point wood cutting hand saw. The teeth are pointed and facing the rear to catch in a wedge (pawl) in the flat steel handle. The square notched could be stock on some Hs but possibly a after market.
The first 4 hole plate was probably for the starter (heavy) switch. IH Farmall was very indifferent to the location of the starter sw. and there are several variations (even within the same model/year)

The two holes are for control rods, one for the belt pulley control rod, and one for the radiator shutter control crank assembly. (without a picture, and with some holes used for other reasons (like a choke rod on some, or a starter push rod holder, or a starter pull rod holder) it is my best guess. JimN

My starter switch is on the bottom of the rear fuel tank support and the shutter rod is just above the starter switch.Choke rod is on the far left.Belt pulley rod is in ther somewhere ,just havn't payed much attention to it yet.The 4 hole plate is too far above them to line up with anything. Will see if i can find some online pics at the case site to look at.

Just have a hard time sometimes finding the right area on searches.

I found the online pics of the area i was looking for,but now i'm really confused. My tractor has all of the controls but they are in the rear tank support instead of the square plate on the steering post. Were there different setups? Like i said earlier i changed the steering post due to the one that was on it was a galvanized pipe.

I'm not making a show tractor but just a user and would like it be a little correct looking at least. Shutter control is stuck and shutters gone so i'm not too concerned with the function. Just like them to at least look close to original.

I have a 1940 H that didn't have the four hole plate bolted to the steering post. The stater swithch was in the tank support with a rod going through the steering post to push the switch. The other control rods all went through the tank support.

The starter switch was located in several places so the replacement post may have included the mount for the Sw. JimN
