Want to find a muffler for an IH 1066 I’m doing up. Have seen a Stanly muffler being advertised but am unsure whether it would look like an original or a replacement.
Did IH make their own mufflers? Can anyone tell me the measurements of an original muffler, so I could compare it to the Stanly?

Thanks for your help/ideas.

I used to be a parts manager at a Case-IH dealer. What I would recommend is getting a Fleetgard muffler, which you could even call your local Deere, New Holland/Ford, etc. for and let them price it to you. Often the all makes catalog will come up much cheaper than OEM, with not that much loss in quality. I used to sell a lot of stuff to JD, Allis, and Ford owners from the all makes line. They, along with Case-IH, were the major players back home.

IH's mufflers are made by Nelson/Fleetguard/Cummins. The Stanley mufflers are cheaply made with poor welds/crimps and thin metal.

Put a Nelson muffler on a scale and then weight a Stanley. Its easy to see who has the better product.

As they say....you do get what you pay for....

IH used to sell their own mufflers. They were almost certainly OEM'd by another company though, probably Stanley.

CaseIH now sells Stanley mufflers, usually a bit cheaper than TSC.

Nowadays, all that's out there is Stanley. You really don't have a choice.

I just put a new muffler on mine. Got it at the local tractor supply outlet; muffler and a rain cap ran right at $100.

Yes, IH sells the muffler, but as usual, it is higher than a cat's back.

Pretty sure it takes a 3 1/2" inlet (hope I'm right on that).

As Allan said most tractor parts outlets have them, if they sell mufflers. They are just an oval instead of round muffler.

The inlet is 3 3/4 inside measurment and the outlet is 3 1/2.
