This is my first day of retirment and it is snowing like crazy in MN! Already had 3 disagreements with the wife in the first day!
However, this gives me time to decide which tractor to restore first! I"ve collected about 5 to restore. I think I"ll go with the Farmall A.

Congratulations, I wish it was me. I've got 3 yrs 4 mos to go if I can live that long. I'm gone 90-100 a week, running locomotives in BNSF's KC-Wellington, KS freight pool, three trips a week if I stay marked up. Had 38 years in Feb 10th, but that's not enough, they want every last drop. Not much time for tractor stuff, takes my entire layover at home to heal up from last trip, & get rested up for the next one. Wishing my life away I guess.

Congratulations! When I retired 6 year ago, I got a whole lot better boss. Better lookin', feeds me, rubs my back, and more. Just pretend she could fire you, dock your pay or worse. Things look a lot better now! Be as nice as pie and see what happens. You might fall in love again. Every night is date night. WOW

DelMN, congratulations!! I hope it is a long, happy and healthy retirement! Some great comments here and I will check back because there will be more, I"m sure. Was on the horn to ASAP tractor parts in Hendricks, MN and was told a blizzard was goin" on. I said, "...send it my way, I love the snow" Well, ref: some comments, Del, next time you go for a doctor exam, take a piston along and clean it up while you are in the waiting room, get on the good side of estrogen, offer to get on the riding-vacuum cleaner once or twice a week, after all, we of the male gender bring in our share of dirt/grease/debris on our footwear. Put some cinnamon rolls in the oven for baking while you are perusing the tractor manual(sssss)/part(sss) books. This will get you points. Offer to go to the grocery store in the morning, thus giving you the opportunity to have coffee/pastries with the "guys". Hug her, be kind, put the seat down, flush, wash your hands, turn off the light and enjoy your retirement years w/your estrogen partner. Mine left this life way to young-42-as the result of a car accident. Retirement, hey, who deserves it more than you. Enjoy

And, empty the dishwasher once in a while. Don't bother to learn where all the various types of dishes go. Put them anywhere. Before long, she will run you out of the kitchen. Get a surplus army cot for your shop. I love retirement, where "everyday is Saturday, except Sunday". mike

Del,
Congrats on the Retirement!! But listen up every one! All married men, especially retired men, need an SFZ, (a Spouse Free Zone),thats some place that you can go and be relatively comfortable but the lady in your life is not. A garage, a shop,or shed or barn. But it can't be too disgusting or she may decide she has to save you from yourself and make you clean it to her specs. I've been married for 31 years and dearly love my wife, but she likevery other woman in my life,(my ex,my mom, grandmom, etc)all think that if a man sits down, he will die. They fear for our lives so if they see us sitting or think we are sitting, or the chair sensors go off, (and don't tell me you haven't suspected they exist), it's "JOHN! Can You come here and....." So for your own Good, Pick a tractor, any tractor, and get busy;)

Congrats on the retirement Del. You may want to discuss the way she vacuums the carpet and indicate a more efficient method that doesn't leave as many crooked marks in the carpet. Just kidding!

Can't identify with the retirement thing. The weather is a different thing. Here in Atlant, Ga it hasn't snowed since the "Blizzard of 92" in March. We got about 6-inches then and it was blowing side ways. Right now it is about 55 outside with thunder storms. As far as getting along with the wife, just mash a finger or something so she will have something to be sympathic to and she will leave you alone. You might also try "looking busy" since most women can't stand seeing someone waste time. They are programed to be always doing something. (Witness the number of women who carry books or mags when traveling. Look around the doctors office and see the number of women reading or doing cross stich compared to what the men are doing.) Doing something as simple as tying fishing flys or reading a book should get her off your back. Working on a restoration may not be considered "doing something" to her however (and I can't explain that).

My options are: Farmall C, SC, H,M,B. All of which are running. They need cleaning, straighten out metal, and the paint thing.

Congrats and enjoy it. in reply to DelMN, 03-01-2007 09:56:27
Congrats on the retirement. I wish you the best of health so you can enjoy it, unlike so many these days. Snowing here to in Duelm. Was not bad at all till that darned wind changed to the north. Drifting like a son of a gun out there now. Kids schools finally letting out 1 hour early (SRR isd 47), about 3 hours too late if you ask me. So, is 3 arguements with the wife in a day something unussual, i ussually am batting that average before she even leaves the house for work.
