I and my grandpa restored his 1946 Farmall A a few years ago. He passed away last year and I was in the corn crib the other day looking at all the attachments for his tractor. The lift-all is still on the tractor and is in excellent working condition. I found the plow A-91? I think might be the number. It is made to work with the lift-all and I was wanting to get it painted for a plow day and I-H is the feature of our show this year. What color should it be, also the 16A mowing machine which I have completly rebuilt how was it painted. Any info or pictures would be greatly appreciated.

I have and A model with the pnuematic lift-all system and I recently restored the tractor. I am selling the system with 2 canisters, all brackets, would anyone happen to know where and how much they would sell for? I am trying to recoop the cost that I had to pay for the tractor and restoration. Thanks for your help.

In 1946 they were having all sorts of pigment shortage problems. That may have been the time of the red mixed with yellow. If you are really interested in historical accuracy, you should look through the paint decisions at WHS, as already suggested. Otherwise, red is probably close enough for that general time frame.

Here is a link to the wisconsin historical society that has put some of these paint decisions from that era online.
