Rear power adjust wheels on 450?

I've had a set of I.H. 14 by 38 power adjust wheels around for a few years and now want to put them on the 450 I just got. Was the 450 model the first that came with these as an option and then they were used thru the 560? I have the cast centers and rims both in good shape, the tires are junk so plan to put 15.5 or 16.9 tires back on them. Just wanting to make sure that I'm getting them on the right tractor. The 450 and 560 sales brochures are the only ones I show with these wheels. Thanks Migraine

Yeah, the 350's and 450's were the first IH tractor with spinouts as I recall. I worked for an IH dealer here(Russell Stevens Co., Hanover, MI) part time in those days, 1956 and 1957. The new 450s looked kinda funny with those low profile 15.5-38's on 'em after seeing 400s with the somewhat higher 13-38s. The spinouts were nice to space the wheels out of the way for mounting 2ME and 2MH corn pickers. It was reccommended to still pull the wheel center out even with the axle end however.

I have a 350 that has spin out wheels on it. I have never moved them. When I need to adjust wheel spacing I slide them on axle like any other farmall. The reason I dont mess with them is I have followed a many tractor with spin outs down the road and once they have been moved it seem they run with a wobble to them. I guess that it is difficult to get them straight again. Of course thay will not fit 450 as axle size is different. The answer to your question is yes they were available for the 450.

Migraine: I suspect you are correct, as a young lad I remember seeing these only on 30-50 series and rare on 40-60 series. Never saw them on 00 series. The popularity of these was quite short lived. I never had one but I suspect there was good reason for the down fall of them.
