No hole for starter on bell housing? I thought that the '45's all had them. Find a casting code to check the year of the housing. You might have a '45 engine in an earlier tractor, someone might have replaced the tag to match.

there are many causes for the trans jumping out of gear if that is what you mean shifter worn or bent bent shifter forks i would pull the top of first and have a looksee never heard of a starter-generator strong enough to start that motor. what yours dont have the hole for the starter? or does it have the hole with no ringgear?

It does not have a hole for starter. And yes it jumps into gear before I can get on. Don"t want to get run over.
