Yes. The wheels were red and, most likely, the drawbar was also red.

The red drawbars were only on the Farmall Regular (for certain) and gray F-20s and F-30s (probably). It had something to do with the production process at the Farmall plant. 15-30s were built in Milwaukee, so the same process didn't apply. F-12s were built in Chicago, so it probably didn't apply to them either.

Van Sickle makes a good "Blue-Gray" for the early IHC tractors. Call the 1-800 number on the rattle can. They will ship a gallon or two. They will even put a gallon's worth in rattle cans for touch-up.

We own a 1930 22-36 that's been in the family since new. It was always gray. We repainted it a number of years ago and used Dupont Dulux #27625D. I don't know if that is still available.

I think Dupont has that paint number in acrylic enamel and in their single stage polyurethane. Hal

I started to do a few internet searches and couldn't find much to support red 22-36s. Russ is correect, IHC declared all tractors and power units produced after 1 Nov 1936 would be painted red.
I also came across www.mccormick-deering.com which has some interesting info on 15-30s and 22-36s, including the original gray.

third party image

Here's a picture of a 22-36 that was painted with Van Sickle paint. The owner may know the paint number and you can have it cross-referenced to PPG or Dupont. Hal
PS: The owner is listed on the picture.

I have 15-30s and a 22-36. In my research, all 22-36s were red and IHC never used a 22-36 decal. Not to say it's oringinal, but when I received my 22-36 it was faded red and had 15-30 decals on the fenders. I don't claim to be the definative expert, just presenting my reseach. If you are looking for originality, you may want to do more research on your own.

not to rock the boat, but all 22-36's were grey. dupont number escapes me now but somebody here will have it. i think you are right on the decals. 22-36 decals seemed to be available later on for repaints in the fourties and after. ih didn't paint red till late 1936. 22-36 last year was 1934.
