I'm in a bind and need some quick help. Went out to the farm yesterday and decided to drain the transmission/differential reservior and the power steering/3-point resevior on my IH-424 Diesel. The tractor has the high/low differential option. My problem is I can't find in my service manual or my parts manual (can't find my operators manual) how much oil and what kind to put back in. Can anyone give me the capacities. If so I would also appreciate the required amount for the engine crankcase. Thanks. Bob F.

I think you will find a fill level plug in the side of the tranny housing just above or just below one of the footboards. When tranny fluid comes out there it is full.

Since I just drained my 424 yesterday I can tell you off the top of my head. Tranny 5 gal Hi-vo, Hydralics 3 gal Crankcase 6 quarts or until it reaches the dipstick full mark. www.caseih.com also has an online parts manual and one of the pages in it is the fluids spec sheet. Still looking for a loader for it.
