I shouldn't speak for him, but if I recall correctly, Hugh McKay once suggested using a motor out of a Farmall 350.

Tom: Knowing this C-153 as well as I do, I'd never spend a nickel on one. Rated at 45 hp yet it wont hold a candle to a C-169 or C-175 in a 300 or 350. Those engines will be a direct bolt up with some modification for breather, shroud and hook up to rad. I'd far sooner put a few dollars into rebuilding these sleeved engines.

He can expect the C-169 or c-175 to be a bit harder on fuel, but that the price for the extra torque.

If you are happy with the tractor, spend the money and rebuild the engine that is in it now. It will be a lot easier than trying to retrofit something, and in the end will not cost anymore.

It may just need new rings and bearings or have the block bored oversize and install new pistons
and rings. Hal
