I plan to remove the right rear wheel bearing cover and drill out and retap the grease zerk, as it is broken off. How hard is it generally to get the wheel hub off. I see from he parts diagram it is a spline shaft. My other experiences on this tractor with splines hasnt been too great. In general is the hub a difficult thing to remove? Any tips or suggestns besides the usual pentrating oil and heat? I'm assuming prying against the axle casting isnt good for the internals. maybe a big gear puller?

I dont plan to do this for a little while, but definitely before spring hits and I get to work her hard!!

I have also heard of wheels exploding in a press while trying to press out the axle. If the wheel "Falls" off the axle, somethings worn, and needs to be replaced.

I removed both of the rear hubs on my 350u, one slipped right off. The other I put a gear puller on and tightened just tight enough to apply pressure and the hit the inside of the hub with a dead blow hammer. As it kept moving, kept tightening the puller and kept slugging the inside of the hub. It wasn't rusty, just old, dried and gummy grease on the splines. When I was ready to put them back on, cleaned up both surfaces, regreased them and they went right on. Good luck with yours.
