I need to know if this tractor is worth fixing up. It is a 1941 McCormick Deering W-4. Is it worth fixing for $1250. It mainly needs a paint job and minor stuff. Runs great.
Thanx

reworked a 1944 w-4 for a friend.the total cost of parts and paint was about $300.since we are in the Edmonton area,we found next day service on most parts from Agri Trak in Westlock.so parts are not really hard to find.i would say it is well worth doing if you can hold the cost down.

The W-4 is not overly rare, depending on what part of the country you are in. Around here (upper midwest - wheat country) there are quite a few around. In row crop country there are probably next to none. The W-4 is the standard tread version of the H. They share the engine and transmission.

If it runs good and only needs paint then that sounds like a good price, if the tires are also decent shape.

That is probably an OK price if the tires are in decent shape. It basically has the H engine so engine parts will be easy to find.
