Been watching this on ebay. Been trying to figure out if this is in fact a Super C or a regular C. Difficult to tell from the pics. I know it has the Super C logos, but sure looks like the C grille, etc. Looks like it is going to bring all it is worth though. (And reserve is still not met.)

The auction is closed now, but the serial number was 18304, according to the seller. Can anybody identify whether it was a C or a Super C?

FC & Co.: My ticket to this dance is a Super C,... "Truman,"... and these periodic threads are really helpful. Thanks, everybody. As for the eBay offering, at $1500 I'd be asking LOTS of questions. RedTed/MO.

Definetly a straight C, not a Super.

third party image

Hope this comes out alright. I pieced together an image using a Super C and a straight C front. Note circled areas. Hope this clears up grille differences.

Thanks FC: Those Pictures of the one for sale were too dim to tell for sure down in that area. But as posted a few weeks ago, the tin can be swaped(cobbled) between c and SC. The casting codes and disk or drum brakes might be a more positive proof. Thanks for posting this side by side picture. It makes an easy to explain referance. Nice photo. ralph

Looks like a C with Super C decals to me and also like a quick sloppy paint job!

Sorry guys, it is definitely a C. Someone meant to deceive because they put a Super C steering
wheel on it. A quick look at the grill tells the tale. The amount of tin between the last opening
at the bottom and the seam between the bottom and middle sections is about three times wider on the
Super C.

There is no differince in the hoods or grills at all. The only visible evidence is the disc brakes instead of the band brakes. The only other differance is the engine has 4 more horse power.

The Super C grill is about an inch and a half longer to accommodate the taller radiator. the difference is noticeable at the bottom of the center section.

Sorry Guys but you were partially right there is a gap under the fuel tank. But the grill is the same.

Grill on a Super C is not the same as a C. The Super C grillis taller. The center section of the super C grill has a wide bar at the bottom. The C has a narrow bar. The Super C grill is 1 1/2 inches taller.

Looks like straight brake & clutch pedals which were on early C's. The foot pedals on Supers had a definate bend back at contact point to top deck. This rearward bend made it easier for kids to reach pedals. Looks like glass jar got sprayed red too as did some on front tires. Quick spray job? r.

Those pedals oughta pretty near clinch it, hadn't they? A lot of what we've been looking at (like my observation on the piggyback regulator)could conceivably be laid to replacement parts and just the changes that happen to old machines over the years. NICE catch! Scotty

Scotty: Well no those foot pedals could be switched..maybe. The left brake looks like a drum rather than disk. The grill handcrank hole location looks faint but seems like a C rather than SC. All in all I'll guestamate a regular C with a quick paint job. Casting codes from seller?? ralph. r.

This definately looks to be a straight "C".
No hydraulics, low hood are giveaways. I have a Super "C" and those are tell-tale signs.
To answer another question, no not all of the Supers came with the "quick hitch". It was an optional piece of equipment.

I'm goin' with you guys on it being a C. The tank looks low, and the air intake looks tall. It's possible he's got a longer exhaust pipe on this one, but I'd sure like to have all that clampin' room for my muffler--my clamp has worn notches in the edges of the hole it passes through! On the more authoritative side, the shadows make it impossible to see the brakes, but I do note that it has a piggyback voltage regulator. Weren't they all mounted to the generator bracket by '51?

I think you are right on the voltage regulator. Even my late 50 C has the regulator on the bracket below the generator.

I can't tell for sure either, pics are too dark, but I agree that it looks like a straight C grill.
I didn't see a serial # mentioned.

Looks to me like a regular C. I can't really tell though, looks as though there is no space between gas tank hydraulic reservoir. Also, I know that super's didn't all come with fast hitch(I have one that doesn't) but most did I think, so that is not concrete evidence, but somewhat more convincing. I think the grill is off a C as well.
