I was at the Case/IH dealer yesterday trying to get a rebuild kit(internal gaskets) for my hydraulic pump on my 300. UNfortunately they can not get the rebuild gasket kit anymore. The only thing I could get was a shaft seal. Has anyone else found another source? I'm about ready to give up and just change the one shaft seal and reinstall the pump on the engine and pray that it still works.

Here's another question: What thread sizes and length is the exhaust/intake maninfold stud for a H or 300?

thanks for your help,

Jamie

Your pump has no gaskets internally, it does have two orings on brass backing pkates, and one on outer case, you can get orings at about any parts store and or buy kit to make your own,Seals also can be gotten at parts stores. As long as your gears are not scored, and the backing plates if scored can be surfaced on piece of glass or flat metal, with 180 grit wet dry paper. The major problem is if the spring backing plate is applying enough tension on brass backing plates to keep pump from bleeding by. If this is a problem you can put in .030 spacer which you have to cut out of brass shim stock or steel. No one provides this it is a home job. It has been my experience that the backing plates get weak over time and need some help, sure wished could buy new ones. Any way this will usually put the pump where it will produce 12-1500 lbs pressure.

I'm not sure if your pump is weak or just leaks out the seals. Generally if they leak its because the pump is worn inside. I can get new aftermarket original style pumps for about $500.00.

I had a similar situation with a power steering cylinder, CIH said they no longer had seals. So I took it to my local hydraulics shop and they supplied modern seals that fit perfectly for about$5. Works great no leaks at all. So why not check out a hydraulics shop and see if they can rebuild your pump.

I have always been told that once they wear out, they are done because of the way the pump is designed. You can get aftermarket ones for around $400.

I have never run this tractor before, so I don't know how well the pump works. (I saved the tractor from the salvage yard) Who is the suppiler for the new rebuilt units?
