Hey Fellas,

I asked once before but did not get many responses
- I've gota '40 H with mounted cultivators but one
side's hydrolic cylinder is stuck in the "in"
position.

My first thought was that the piston rod's sleeve
was bent but that doesn't appear to be the case.
Any ideas? Anyone?

Thanks
Pete

Pete you probably don't have enough pressure to do the unsticking. The tractor system only produces 750-800 psi which isn't much. More pressure is needed and if you don't have another pressure source on a later tractor with a 2000 psi system try the grease gun method. Just go to plumbing supply store and find enough pipe fitting adapters to install a grease zert fitting in the cylinder(or you may find large enough zert to screw in) and pump away with your handy grease gun. I would bet on it working if the seal is still good. Let us know! One more suggestion is heating piston end of cylinder while pressure is applied.

You could have a seal that is binding up along the cylinder barrel.

Kurt,

If this is the situation, how would I best unstick
the seal? The cylinder is disassembled (but still
stuck) - how best to check if it's a stuck seal?
I had this cylinder hooked up to the liftall
(which works fine with other cylinders) and the
pressure of the hydrolics couldn't move the stuck
one....could a seal withstand this kind of
pressure? If not, what could?

Pete
