Sure would appreciate your expert opinions in this matter.
What is the best medium sized utility tractor that has power steering and works well with a loader?
It would be used for odd jobs around the property and should be able to bring a load of gravel from the creek up a dugway to my house. I probably don`t want to spend more than $5K.

Thanks in advance,Mike

As a owner of a John Deere 855 Compact Tractor with a FE Loader and a Farmall 300, I have had the painfull experiance of buying the wrong size machine. My JD is a 24hp Diesel, it is way to small to properly handle FE Loader work. I am happy to say my Farmall 300 handles everything I need it to do. With 40 HP at the PTO, it has the HUMPH to do most everthing and is still small enough to get in the garage. Buy BIG...

Yours is the first comment I've seen that indicated the 855 wasn't strong enough for the FEL. I just found one yesterday and am thinking it would be a good way to get started on a new property that I will be moving to in January (here in Texas) that is only 7 acres including the house and about 1 acre pond. I kind of figured the FEL would be good for cleaning out barn, maybe removing a little dirt to extend a driveway (shallow area) and moving some stuff like hay or feed and such. Would appreciate your thoughts/input and letting me know what you ended up doing.

I'd have to say I like the RED one much better. That 300 really looks nice.
