I've just bought a white cab 1981-82 (X reg) JCB 3CX. I'm now after an operator's and a workshop manual for the machine so I have some idea how to look after it.

Does anybody have such things (either hard copy or digital) lying about? Ebay seems to be strangely quiet about these books at the moment, & JCB originals seem to have a legendary fersome price!

I just checked on Ebay UK,typed in JCB Manual, there are some on there, both hard and digital, you would need the serial number to get the right one,Good Luck with your 3CX,that would be the first model after the Powertrain,Perkins 4.236 engine, shuttle box 4 speed, good machine.Oils, engine 15/40,shuttle red ATF,gearbox/axle HP90,its JCB hydraulic fluid that goes in the brakes & hydraulics or the equivivalent.

All the manuals on Ebay at the moment are for "94 on machines. I actually bought a CD from a chap on Ebay, who"d been asked by someone else if their "81 3CX was covered & he"d said yes. He was obviously talking out of his a**e, "cos surprise surprise, the earliest machine featured was a "94!

One thing that has me puzzled is the mention of "project 7", "project 8" for 3cx manuals listed on ebay. What do they mean?

Hi Rob. JCB manuals are notoriously difficult and pricey things to find. You practically have to inherit them...
Try manual-finder-uk (ebay UK merchant)(usual disclaimer ie not a mate, business partner or relative & I"m merely a satisfied customer), as he seems to have a good range of stuff for the Jakeys.
Cheers, JV3CII.
