I tried all of suggestions butt still no solution
I noticed exhaust manifold leaking by fuel line so I replaced gasket but no fix. I have a clear fuel filter and I noticed that when machine dies fuel filter is empty. relaced mechanical fuel pump but no fix. Do they make an electric fuel pump for the vh4d motor?

Some wiring harnesses have an engine overheat switch on each head. It's a little ring that fits under the sparkplug, and shorts the ignition points to ground when over temp. A switch might be weak, or your cooling fins may need a dig-out. If you have any oil leaks on the motor, it will load up with dust. Pull a few of the sheet-metal covers on the cylinders/heads and have a look-see.

You say when the engine dies the fuel filter is empty.Have you checked the fuel tank vent?Try running it with the fuel cap loose and see if your problem goes away. When the fuel is sucked out air has to get in otherwise a vaccum is creatsd.Good luck

In addition to several good suggestions from others you may want to remember that the secondary function of oil is to dissipate heat. Keeping the engine full, at all times, may help lower the temperature a bit in the engine area; and thus reduce the tendancy to vapor lock.

I agree with Dave, vapor lock. Dad had an old Rio truck that did that. We put aluminum foil on all the fuel lines and carb. Worked like a charm. Got a Hahn Highboy (Wisconsin 4cyl) sprayer that started doing it when you couldn't get 'good' gas anymore (leaded). I remember him telling me about that trick and it worked.

I have a 610 Bobcat and have the same problem, dies when hot. I have installed an electric fuel pump, and tee'ed the line just in front of the carb, making it return back to the tank. In doing so it returns some of the fuel so the fuel is not heating up. This helped some. I then made a aluminum shield to go between the carb and manifold, also around the fuel line. Big help. I pressure cleaned the engine so it would run cooler. The problem is vapor lock, with todays fuel it is easy to do. Any thing you can do to keep the fuel system cool will help. Now I only have problems on 95 or hotter days, when it stalls I pour water on the carb and fuel line and it will start right up. Hope this helps, SEE YA

A good idea to return some fuel to the tank, but remember the carb supply requires a minimum pressure and the pump is not expected to pump continuously at full flow, so a restrictor may be required in the return line. Also, if it works very well, you may finish up with a part tank of very hot gas - a likely fire hazard!!

If the filter is empty when it quits running, you may have one of the following conditions. Trash or scum in the fuel tank that is being sucked up on the pickup sock and blocking fuel flow, kinked line from tank to fuel pump, trash restriction in one of the fittings or line from the tank to the pump. Good luck.

we put an electric fuel pump on ours and it did not help. I always felt that it was the valves that needed to be adjusted. My thinking was that as the valves got older and streched then when it got hot they would not close tight. never ran a compresion test to confirm my theroy. I did however run it on choke for a short time and it would clear up for a time then it would do it again. Very very frustrating. we mostly just used it to clean our barn and it only had to run for maybe 20 mins. at a time so we just learned to live with it. never bothered in the cold weather. I sympathize with you and hope you get a handel on the proublem.
