Need advice ASAP. While on a business trip, a distributor of Case dozers had a trade in for sale. Case 450B 1980 Model, 4781 hours. The seller said the following: right track adjuster needs fixing, blade could use shimming on both sides, one blade cylinder needs repacking, It has a hydraulic leak from the extra valve(easy to fix). Sprokets are in good shape as well as idlers. Engine runs strong, both brakes work and has good transmission pressure. Asking $16,500 and would have to be trucked from Ohio to Alabama. What should I be asking about this dozer, what is a fair price. What would this cost to truck commercially. Or should I run from this a not look back.

After reading emails on this web site for the last 2 years, I finally got off the bench and bought this tractor. It is amazing how many new friends I have. There is zero doubt in my mind, that this WEB site helped educate me on dozers and allowed me to make a better purchase. I can hardly wait for this new toy to arrive so we can move some dirt. Thank you for responding to my first email. I will send pictues ASAP.

I can't offer you much advice on the mechanicals of the 450B. But, I have been looking for a 450 track loader. I found one in NC that I looked at. I called Target Transport 800-715-3618, as recommended on this site, and he was going to charge me $550.00 to haul from Asheville, NC to southern Indiana. He is out of northern Indiana. A local company here was going to charge me $1600.00 to haul it. Anyways, I didn't purchase it but thought you might give this guy a call for transportation.
I have been looking for a track loader for only about a year now, but I would agree with Marlowe that 16k is a bit high for a 450 dozer.

all the things you said about the repairs are all easy to do. but don't wast your time trying to fix the the track adjuster.just replace it with a new one about 350.00 after market [berco]in the long run you will save money and down time. as to price 16.500 is high for my area can find them for 10 to 12 all over. to check price go to machinery trader.com all kinds of them for sale
