What does a bobcat 610 weight about?
What is lift capacity?
I was told that this machine is belt driven?
What does this mean, I thought all skid loaders had hyd. drive motors. I'm going to look at 1 for sale. Is there any thing to really to look for in buying one. I am planning to use it around my cottage. Any help out there?

Thank's JIM

I am having trouble removing the axle on my Bobcat 610, is there a secret to it?

If it were me I'd hold off on the 610 and look for a 642/643 or 742/743 preferably one with a 3 as the last digit which means its a diesel engine, the belt drive just means it uses a belt off the engine to turn drive pumps, much like the modern day B/C's, I dont have my books here at the 'puter but the other guy's posts sound about right on the weight.

the 610s I have run do not have a hydrostatic drive at all. They have a variable speed drive belt powering the wheels with wet clutches, forward and back in the side transmissions for control. The drive lines were quite trouble free, but not as operator friendly as a hydrostat. Be sure and check the wisconsin engine over. The VH4D was not a bad engine, but the VG4D had more power and was thus easier to run. Some tell me that parts for the Wis engines are difficult to find. Our first bobcat was a 500, with the kohler K-662 engine. Chassis was great, engine was not good enough to be a boat anchor.

The 610 bobcat has a belt driven drive system [similar to a snowmobile drive system] The 610
that I had a wisconsin air cooled engine. It was ok but not near the machine the next generation
skidsteer's are.

The 610 weighs around 3650 lbs and shows to be powered by a Wisconsin VH4D. Built from 1972-81. The older Bobcats are mechanical driven using a large variable speed belt.

Hopefully gatractor man will be along shortly to explain more detail how the mechanical drive works and the lifting capacity. I can only guess it around 1000 lbs.
