I find it odd I havn't heard anyone mention the Mitsubishi dozers (BD2F,BD2G,BD2G-II,BD2H etc.)
They have just as many features and the price can't be beat for the average homeowner.

Power Tilt or Power Angle Tilt Blades
Direct Drive or Direct Power Shift
Standard Tractor or Swamp Tractor Undercarriage
40hp Diesel Engine
Rear Exiting Exhaust (Much Quieter)
And at 8 - 10,ooolbs can be easily trailered

You can pick these up at auctions across the country for 8 - 12k depending on the model. Maintenance costs are
equivalent to the other major brands and parts are readily available.

Just my 2 cents, if anyone needs any info on these machines feel free to drop me an email.

Cat, Case, Deere, and Komatsu all make really good machines and all cost big $$$ when you have to repair. Proportionally the Cases and Deeres are cheaper to repair. Lots of ag parts interchange. Seems the 1150E or 1450E Cases give you the most dozer for the $$.

At the risk of starting a war i will say it again. It's not the cost of the parts or the cost of the machine its how much down time you want to indure and the number of parts it takes to get the real cost of the machine. For example Dads first dozer was a IH340t I don't remember much of this machine but I know dad was not pleased with it and as he said being a brut for punisment he traded it for a IH500 with 4in1 bucket. I do remember that one well after it had a few years on it (we only had it 6 years) if you ran it one day you worked on it a week. Dad got sick of that and traded it for a MF300 with 4in1 bucket was a good machine repairs were much fewer than the previous machine (except for the damn metric bolts) He then got a MF400 with 4in1 bucket this not a bad machine but parts allmost imposable to find and some of the repairs we had to remanufacture diferent parts to fit it. Now it seems that they are worth nothing more than there weight in scrap metal. He then bought a JD450b had to be the poorest use of steel ever. The tracks were new and he paid $14000 for it and in the few short years we had it it cost another $14500 in repairs not to mention down time and all the time I spent working on it. When that went down the road it was a happy day for me. He then bought a CAT D3 for $13500 in the 8 years we ran it we put less than $1000 in repairs. Now we have a CAT D5c it had 4200 hours on it when we bought it and have put allmost 800 hours on it with no repairs yet. ( oh the D3 has over 6000 and the MF's might have 5000). I don't care what some say about who builds it. It says right on it manufactured by Caterpiller mitsubishi, Tokyo. It is built to CAT specks and not built by some one else and CAT just stick there name on it. The nice thing is if you lose a bolt you don't have to run around trying to find the right metric bolt mostly it uses SAE 3/8" or 1/2" bolts. With the MF's you needed 2 sets of tools and a ton of different sizes. and Our newest machine A JD555g is metric bolts. I can not say much about the JD we have only used it maybe 150 hours so far it has been a good machine but it is not built as heavy so time will tell it only has 2200 hours on it. So is the CAT really more expensive in the long run when you figger in resale value , repairs and down time? Not in my humble opinion.

I recently bought a 500C with a Drott 4 in 1 bucket for $6500.00. I did change the fluids, greased it and tuned it up along with a few other minor things. Since then I have cleared several roads and building sites as well as dug a 100' by 300' lake. I've done the majority of the work in freezing conditions with very little trouble. The hardest part has been adjusting the brakes. For the money this machine has done it's job...for a poor man like me an excellent choice, I'm so glad I bought that one.
