grease fitting is broken off flush with hub on an idler; can another hole be drilled and tapped for a new fitting or must the old broken fitting be drilled out, threads cleaned to put a fitting in the original location? Have little confidence in drilling out the stub of the old fitting and saving threads. New hole tapped sounds easier???

grease fittings usually come out easy , use square

easy out ( not spiral as they expand the fitting

tighter in the threads ).

And if it doesn't move easy that way, heat it red hot, let it cool off, then it should nearly fall out.

Discoverd broken grease fitting is the least of my problems. Upon close exam on inside of idler hub , next to the shaft, found a large chunk of hub missing, broken and GONE. Any lube anywhere would have ended up to nourish thistle and morning glory at ground level.
What I really need, complete, is idler wheel with all the innards...bushings etc. Any help out there?.Zimmerman is a long way from Oregon...ought to be some parts source closer but maybe not. PC
