I've been in the grading business since 1966 when i took over my fathers grading company. He bought his first bulldozer in 1918. We have ran Caterpiller since 1918 except for a few Internationals and JD's, and if someone were to come to me today and tell me to switch to Komatsu I would tell them to go to ****. Only on a few occasions over the years has CAT taken more than 24 hours on getting the parts to me. And amazingly the parts they ship me are the right ones and don't have to be returned, costing me more time. If our yearly income is in the eight figures and we are using CATS why turn to the Japs and buy their equipment. Buy AMERICAN.

if buying american is so ******* important then
then maybe you will be happy to know that the
all mighty CAT has been importing a european made
grain combine and putting there name on it!
so now i guess you deal with the japs or the
german cat/class nazi's

Larry;
When you get those new parts from Cat, do you ever take your pocket knife out and scrap off some of the yellow paint and see iffen it is gold under the yellow paint?

Lay it on them Larry! Stand up for the truth and America, not Japan or wherever Komatsu is from. CAT was up and running before Komatsu even set sail. Adios, Jake

Know what you're saying. My granddad drove a Cat 12 road grader for the county and he claimed they were the only ones that knew what they were doing when it came to building road machinery. They had been buying Cat, Adams and others. Wound up all Cat.

I also stood and listened to a low boy driver who had just delivered a D6 sized Komatsu to a job site where I was observing a rough terrain forklift on field trials about 10 years back. I had asked him if the operators preferred Komatsu or Cat, since he worked for a rental outfit. He surprised me when he replied the guys seemed to get more done with Komatsus since they were laid out better.

Komatsu is about all rental companies will buy since people are rough on rental machinery, and don't tell me that rental companies buy them because they hold up better under abuse. Komatsu's are cheaper and they aren't worried about the resale value, because Komatsu can't even begin to compare with CAT on holding value.

Now he knows what he's talking about, and if you look at most other big time grading firms they are all Cat, and no one can argue that.

I have been in the equipment repair buisness for 20+ years and can only recall working on about 3 or 4 Komatsu dozers and loaders I guess once they break they are not worth fixing. If you think cat parts are expensive try buying parts for Komatsu my experance is that cat parts are cheaper than any other brand out there.I remember paying around 350.00 for a cly. packing for a D-85 blade cyl. If you are serious about making a living with grading equip. go Cat they are #1.

I use Cat and only Cat and I thought thier parts were the most expensive too, but everybody tells me that JD's parts cost the most.

I gave that up years ago just my observation from doing simmilar repairs on each. P.S John Deer parts are very high. But I have been accused of being high too.
