Need to remove roots from brush & small trees left after power company cleared area. Is there a ripper or rake of some kind available for this crawler? First crawler I have ever owned and have no idea of that it can do. It is a Case 450 with a six (?) way blade. So far I have just spent a lot of money fixing things I did not know that were worn out. Learning the hard way!!

There was a ripper attachment that went in the final drive mount holes. then you had to add an extra valve body for the hydraulics. You may have better luck finding the root rake for the front blade though. Be careful with whichever option you go with for both items are very hard on the final drives. Back in the late seventies and early eighties I got quite effiecent in overhauling final drives on the 450 through 1450 units with the rippers and root rakes. The one option that wa s the worst was the stump ripper. It was a big ripping attachment that resembled a log splitter with a flat angled blade. this option would mount to the left side of the blade and extended forward about six feet. The idea of this option was to split small chunks from the tree stump while removing the lower portion of the roots. It did an amazing job but operators soon found out that it would work quicker if you hit the stump while on the run, that's when I was called out to repair the left final drive. Sorry to carry on, good luck with your 450.

I just bought my first dozer , a 1970 Case 450D. All I need to do to it is redo the brakes, replace a couple of guages and redo the track tensioners. In the process of getting the parts. What all have you had to do to yours? I am clearing about 10 acres to build on, all big trees are staying. I was thinking of a root rake also but am leery now.
